There are two elements in this universe (or any universe for that matter) that are so essential to life that God says it is by these two things that we are to live!
These two elements are the only two things that, when combined, will produce the kind of power that enables a person to live in overwhelming victory in every area of life as God desires and intends for His children.
These two elements are:
- The Word of God
- Faith
Turn over to Luke 4:4 and let’s look at what Jesus said, “And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” – Luke 4:4 KJV
Something interesting to realize here is that, if Jesus said that we are to live by every Word of God, then we not only have the ability to receive every word of God but we also have the ability to do them!
Another thing we need to realize is that there may be some good sayings out there. There are a lot of things that men may call “words to live by” but it is only the Word of God by which we are to live. What we think the Word says doesn’t count and neither does what someone else thinks it says. It is what the Word actually says that counts!
The Word is so essential to life for us as believers that the Scriptures actually tell us that we are destroyed or perish because of a lack of knowledge of the Word. We either don’t know it or have forgotten it – let it slip! “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” – Hosea 4:6 KJV
We need to be continually reading, studying and refreshing ourselves in the Word!
Now let’s look at Habakkuk 2:4.
“Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.” – Habakkuk 2:4 KJV
WE LIVE BY FAITH!
You know, if God says something even one time, it is important and we need to listen up! THIS vital element is so very essential though that it is not said once, twice or even three times. “The just shall live by faith” is said FOUR times in Scripture!! Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11 and Hebrews 10:38!
Now listen, it doesn’t take a genius to realize that, if God says the same thing four times and in both covenants, He intends for us to understand how absolutely vital it is!
Whenever we stir ourselves up about faith, we need to remember that we are not talking about “natural” faith – we are talking about the spiritual force of faith. Natural faith trusts that when I walk across the floor, the floor will hold me up. The spiritual force of faith in the Word knows that, as I walk through this life, the Word will hold me up!
Another thing we must realize about faith is that we are not just talking about our own human faith. The actual, original Greek text of Mark 11:22 say, “Have the faith of God!” HAVE it! God’s own personal faith has been given to us as believers (Romans 12:3 KJV). This is exactly what Paul was talking about in Galatians 2:20 and what I am talking about in this letter to you!
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20 KJV
In conclusion, we know that the Word of God is powerless in our lives if we don’t mix it with faith (Hebrews 4:2 KJV). We know faith in natural things, people, etc. can lead to disappointment and failure. How well we know! Let’s look at an example of what faith in and combined with the Word of God will produce.
“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” – Hebrews 11:3 KJV
“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” – Genesis 1:3 KJV
When you really look into it, God mixed His faith with only two words, “Light be!”
In 24 hours, 16,070,400,00 miles of universe existed and is STILL expanding at 186,000 miles per SECOND! Yes, that is 16 billion with a “B!”
God’s faith – He gave it to us.
God’s words – we have a book full of them for every situation in life.
Why is it again that we don’t think we have the ability to live in victory in EVERY area of our lives? Do we really think that kind of power cannot heal the human body from cancer or covid? Do we really think that power cannot pay the rent or fill up the gas tank?
OF COURSE IT CAN! And as you put the explosive mixture of faith in the Word to work this month, it WILL!
