Hello everyone! My name is Ryan Weeter and today I’m going to be talking about the meat of the word. I had just returned from my honeymoon and started getting back in the word. Between the wedding planning and travel I had let it slip. As I started reading the word again and listening to teachings I began to be energized! I physically felt different. I was excited, I was focused, and I was no longer stressed or tired. It felt exactly like taking a sip of an ice cold soda after fasting soda for months. The crisp, refreshing, and invigorating feeling. I spent the rest of the day just enjoying it and as I fell asleep that night God spoke to me and told me “The word is the meal. TV, games, social media are candy.”
I laid in bed for a bit and thought about that. The word really is the full meal. Hebrews 5:13-14 says “For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” The word is milk and meat, it’s not cotton candy and snickers. I felt so energized because I had gone a few weeks without eating a spiritual meal. I guarantee you that if I had gone a week or two without eating physical food that my physical body would be tired, sluggish and, generally speaking, it would be a sickly body. Once you get a good healthy meal in you though, you’re empowered, you’re strengthened! The word is the kind of grilled chicken meal that you go to the gym immediately after. I was actually talking to a buddy of mine about this and how Paul was a spiritual body builder with no cheat days. He meditated on the word day and night (Joshua 1:8).
I however had been only eating candy the past week or two. TV, social media, games, YouTube, all of that is candy. None of those things are wrong, in fact you can spread the gospel across all of those platforms and they can be great tools. The problem is that I wasn’t watching the word on them. I was watching the candy and it had absolutely no nutritional value. My spirit man was being force fed snickers while he was begging for grilled chicken and a work out. 1 John 2:16-17 says “For all that is in the world- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life- is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and he lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” The things of this world are flimsy, thin, of no substance, in other words, candy. You cannot subsist on something that has no substance.
Just like in our physical body we need to put in fuel that will get us the results we want. You don’t see bodybuilders shoveling in whole slices of cake. They eat what builds muscle, cuts fat, they eat what gets results. The word is what brings results in our lives, not the news, not YouTube, not social media. The word. I encourage you to get in the word and experience the results. It’ll change your life just like it changed mine.
