Hello everyone! My name is Ryan Weeter and I’m going to be talking with you about God’s help. This is something that I have learned the true impact of personally and just recently.  Just a couple months ago I was in a major slump. I wasn’t getting in the Word. I wasn’t fellowshipping with God regularly. It just wasn’t fun. I could get in the Word, but I would have to force myself, it wasn’t a relationship, it was a chore.  Then, one day I was in class at Bible college and they had a bit of an altar call for people that wanted to become more focused on God. I went up and the teacher ministered to me for a bit, but what he ministered came down to one thing. Your flesh won’t want the word, but your spirit man does and God wants fellowship with you too.  Ask God and He will help. I went home, got on my knees, folded my hands, the whole nine yards to make it an official decision. Ever since, I have enjoyed the Word thoroughly, and it clicked. God helps! We don’t need to pray for an hour with prayers filled with thee and thou. We just need to ask for help!

As soon as I realized this, God showed me Isaiah 41:10 which says “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”  It has since become one of my favorite scriptures! There’s no reason to be dismayed, don’t be scattered or frustrated or upset, God has got you and is there for you. It literally says right here that God will help you! Too many Christians myself included have thought for too long that you had to convince God to help.  I never realized that I thought that, but that’s exactly how I prayed.

Any time I got overwhelmed, felt under attack from the enemy, or just needed some help getting through the day, I just asked for help.  Just the other day, I was having a rough day. Some issues popped up and previous issues seemed to grow in my mind. I ended up sitting on the stairs in my flesh, focusing on the bad things going on.  Thankfully, my wife ministered to me about the goodness of God and got my attention on God instead of myself. I went upstairs, read Isaiah 41:10 to myself and asked for help. The very next day I woke up and was encouraged! I was at peace, in the joy of the Lord, and knew God had it taken care of.  God helps!

The Bible says in Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” All your need, every single one, God will provide for.  Not just financially, but emotionally, and spiritually. God is our dad, the best dad in the world! No good dad would ever let his child fend for himself. A good earthly dad would willingly help his child! If I walked up to my dad right now and said “I need some help, I want to go hunting with you, but I’m having a hard time making time, would you help?” I guarantee you he would help me because he wants to spend time with me as much or more than I want to!

So often we picture God as an aloof, superior, above it all, God.  He is superior and above it all, but he’s YOUR God. He’s personal, he’s your dad, he WANTS to help, all we have to do is ask.  James 1:5 says “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”  Ask and it will be given, not given sparingly, but liberally! I encourage you today, don’t try to convince God to help, just ask and he give you help and give it liberally.  Have a blessed day.
