Hello!  My name is Ryan Weeter and today I’m going to be talking with you about authority!  You have divine, God given, spiritual authority, and you need to be using it! Just the other day I was listening to someone talk about an issue they were having in their life and quoting verses about it.  It caught my attention because it’s not everyday you hear even another Christian standing on verses against the attacks that come against them. The verses she was quoting however, and the way she was using them, was to say that sometimes life just hits you. Sometimes it just beats you down, but there’s nothing you can do, but if you can just hang on long enough then you’ll come out alright.  That’s not how we are supposed to be as Chrisitans!

Luke 10:19 says “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”  Jesus has given us the authority over the attacks that the enemy launches against us!  You aren’t some helpless fish being tossed about in the current hoping you can hold on long enough to find a calm spot.  You’re a conqueror! In fact, Romans 8:37 says “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”  Alexander Hamilton, Julius Caesar, Napoleon, all of them are ants compared to who you are through Christ!

One of my favorite examples of us being more than conquerors is if you picture a heavyweight boxer.  He makes it to the heavyweight championship of the world and fights the full twelve rounds. In the final round he throws the knockout punch, they lift his arm in the air, and give him the check.  He’s a conqueror. He then turns around and hands the check to his wife, she’s more than a conqueror. Jesus conquered the enemy, then turned around and gave us our new life. The enemy has been defeated, Jesus conquered him, and we have nothing more to fear.  Jesus fought that fight that we couldn’t. He pummeled the devil in that ring and he paid the price for our authority through him!

Romans 5:17 says “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”  Though we were once sinners, Jesus restored us to perfection, to righteousness, to authority.  Don’t go through life like there’s nothing you can do, don’t go through life like you can’t change anything.  The devil cannot succeed if you don’t allow him to. The Bible says when we resist the devil he WILL flee. He cannot withstand you because you have Christ in you.  God Almighty Himself, creator of the universe is backing you up. Walk with that confidence and victory through life! Don’t let the devil lie to you and tell you that there’s nothing you can do, because it’s a lie and nothing more.  Be blessed!
